Aberffraw is a small picturesque village straddling a small river, just inland of the main beach. The beach is at it's best in a south west swell when the waves are channelled up onto the beach. Aberffraw produces good quality, safe and fun beach break waves suitable for all levels of surfer.
To get to the beach follow the river to its mouth with the sea, staying on the left hand bank. There are huge meadows of sand dunes for the 500m walk to the sea, which add to the atmosphere of the journey to the beach. The beach itself is a huge swathe of fine, very golden sand, looking out into Caernarfon Bay and the Lleyn Peninsula on the far side. It's a really rugged and remote beach location making it great for escaping from the crowds.
