Alnmouth is the sort of perfect village that this fantastic beach deserves. The same swell that gets Bamburgh going will reach down here and create great shifting beach break peaks along the length of the beach, through the range of the tide. The river mouth will also generate good left and right-handers, depending on the direction of the prevailing swell but novice surfers should take care because the currents off the mouth can be strong.
Alnmouth Bay is the ideal location for either a day trip or a long break. Everything you need is in the village and you can fall out of bed in the morning and be in the water within minutes. The beach itself is a long straight run of fine sand, running north - south, broken only in its middle by a small river running into the sea. Alnmouth has real variety on a great beach in a classic location.
