Amble is a superb point break but surprisingly is not heavily surfed. Amble itself is a large village with several kilometres of sand beach running south down past Hauxley and into Druridge Bay. The point just down from the village is the stand out highlight - as the swell wraps around into the bay it creates a peeling right-hander that can produce some excellent, long rides in the right conditions. For those with the spirit of adventure and the stamina to pursue it, use Amble as a base and then explore south along the miles of sandy beach and varied peaks down to Cresswell.
All of this area is part of the Northumberland Heritage Coast, so the scenery is fantastic and there are many local sites to explore. Amble is very easy to access, being sat on the main A1068 and there are several free car-parking sites along the links behind the beach. There are good facilities in the village although the beach is really well served by good facilities and an excellent pub just behind it. Amble and its beaches are well worth exploring for an extended period of time.
