Annestown is perfect if you are after peace and quiet and your own secluded spot on a golden sand beach. It is also an excellent surfing break. Annestown itself is a small village set on a low ridge that ends as the headland at the western, right hand side of the beach. Lush green pasture rolls down the back of the beach, which sits in the saddle of two rocky headlands. The left of these has broken in two leaving a large rock, with the gap in between the access to a further isolated beach beyond. There are some rocks in the centre of the beach which provide rock pool fun for children at low tide, but which should be considered by surfers and other board riders at mid to high tide.
The surfing here is great, but not as good as the perfect barrelling reef wave that breaks above rocks on the deserted beach beyond the gap in the headland. This is an intermediate and above level wave due to the fact that it is a rock reef break, but those capable of attempting it will be rewarded by fantastic rides.
Beyond the beach the best things to do are either soak up the amazing tranquillity and scenery or head into Tramore just up the coast for the resort fun and nightlife.
