Ardmore is another idyllic beach, somewhat like Clonea Strand but with the volume turned down. The beach itself is one long strip unadulterated golden sand that runs in an enormous sweep for nearly 5 kilometres at the back of a wide, open bay. Like Clonea the right hand side is developed but with a small village with a certain quiet charm. The beach is backed by low, grass covered sand banks, which join the beach with the agricultural land to its rear.
The water is clean and crystal clear adding to the quality of the beach overall. The swell here can range from small to very large, meaning the beach can produce fun small waves ideal for beginners to quite large waves that intermediates and above will enjoy. Due to its huge size it is also fantastic for wind surfers and kite surfers but in very large winter storms can become blown out.
Away from the beach it is the village and beautiful surrounding countryside that provides the extra points of interest on the flat or extremely stormy days.
