Ballinspittle has two excellent beaches in one location. The western of the two is made up of heavy dark sand running in a sweep in front of a low grass covered ridge. The water quality is very good and the beach receives significant amounts of swell producing beach breaks along its length and a high quality peak at the western end. In the middle of the two beaches is a low rocky spur pointing south into the Bristol Channel. This marks the start of the second beach, which runs east in a tighter curve, backed by a low sea wall around to a headland dominated by a few residential houses.
At the high tide the beach is completely covered and so the best of the surf is at mid to low tide. There is a good peak running off the rocks at the western end and good quality beach breaks suitable for beginners all along its length.
This area is very rural and quiet and its lush and rolling countryside is well worth exploring between tides.
