Boscombe Pier

Boscombe Pier is sat amidst a stunning white sand beach that nestles in a perfect sheltered spot underneath some high cliffs. Its sheltered enough that you could forget that you were next to one of the largest towns on the south coast. The beach is the in the middle of the huge strip of sand that runs all the way from Christchurch harbour in the east to the entrance to Poole harbour in the west - nearly 10 kilometres of perfect, unbroken beach.

The surf is best here when a swell runs up the Channel and wraps around Swanage Headland into Poole Bay. The main peak is immediately left of the pier and runs east as a right hander. The waves are best at around mid tide but can be quite heavy and with the pier novices should take care. This good wave is about to become epic! The local area is undergoing a major development, and as part of the Boscombe Spa Development a prupose built artificial reef is being created where this break has been so far. We can only pray that it matches the quality of Noosa's Supertubes (Australia) for quality. It is due to be competed in 2008 so keep your fingers crossed!

The beach is extremely well provided for by the local facilities with a lifeguard presence, public toilets, information centre and many cafes and restaurants. An all round fantastic beach that is soon going to get a whole lot better!
