Scarborough South Bay

Scarborough is one of Yorkshire's and the UK's most traditional Victorian era coastal resort towns and has an amazing, brash beach character. South Bay is one of two beaches in Scarborough and is the smaller although much louder of the two bays, crammed full of amusements, bars and restaurants for the full English beach experience. During the summer months it has an amazing nightlife and becomes a 24-hour party scene. The beach is of fine golden sand and weeps south from the headland in the centre of Scarborough.

The surfing peaks are on shifting sand banks and work through the range of the tide, at their best in south westerly winds. South Bay tends to continue working when it is blown out in North Bay and the swell is suitable for all levels of surfers. The beach is incredibly well served with the main seafront being just metres behind the beach and catering for any possible requirement. Parking immediately next to the beach is limited but there are many central car parks.

Beyond the beach there is loads to do in town with Scarborough's significant history on display in several places, plus if you want to stay outdoors there is the whole of the North Yorkshire Moors to explore just up the A171. A fantastic all-round beach.
