Newquay's Lusty Glaze beach has the best of both worlds - slightly further north away from the centre of Cornwall's main resort town and therefore quieter, but part of the same huge expanse of sand at low tide, receiving the same quality waves. The beach is a horseshoe at high tide with the bottleneck marking the limit of the tide. At low tide the beach opens up into a huge strip that runs away to the south. There are brilliant facilities at the back of the beach including café and toilets and the whole beach is contained under a ring of protective cliffs, creating a perfect suntrap even on windy days.

The surf is just as good as at Towan, Great Western and Tolcarne although the paddle out is longer at high tide than it is at the more southerly beaches. The waves are spilling breakers and aren't as steep as further south, but the peak is a more predictable left breaking off the headland. Lusty Glaze is a great beach providing variety and a unique character amongst the different beaches in and around Newquay.

The beach caters for all levels of surfing ability and there are surf schools, manned by some of the high-class surfers that this world-class surfing location has spawned. On top of this is the incredible nightlife; Newquay has a multitude of bars and clubs to explore routinely packed with hundreds of local and visiting beach goers, so if you are after a 24-hour surfing experience look no further than the surfing Mecca of the UK!
