Duckpool is a tranquil and quite remote beach - if you want seclusion - this place is for you! It is essentially part of the same beach as Sandymouth and Northcott Mouth and is similar in many ways. Facilities consist of an earth car park and public toilets, which does mean the crowds are minimal and you are guaranteed some idyllic peace and quiet. The waves are invariably empty, which is surprising given how hollow and powerful they can be when the swell is up. The beach works best at low to mid tide, due to the better angle and the fact that the beach opens up as the tide drops. At high tide the sand completely disappears with the waves breaking onto the cobbles at the top of the beach.
The local scenery is fantastic and the cliffs are perfect for exploring or viewing what is going on in the water and particularly good for watching the amazing sunsets into the ocean. Duckpool is a fantastic location for good waves, no crowds and total peace and quiet.
