Eastbourne Beach

Eastbourne beach is dominated by its stunning pier, which makes the beach one of England's and the UK's most distinctive and well known. Either side of Eastbourne pier are several kilometres of shingle and sand beach, which stretch from Beachy Head to the southwest up to Lagney Point to the northeast. There is plenty of room along this enormous strip to find some place to yourself. The surf is at its best when there is a large swell pushing up the channel from the west with Beachy Head acting to protect the main beach from accompanying westerly winds. It produces typical beach break spilling waves, on peaks that shift with the incoming tide, although it is at its best from low to mid tide, before it hits the steep parts of the beach.

Eastbourne is an incredibly vibrant resort town that has a huge range of activities close by to the beach. These include the RNLI museum, the Redoubt Fortress, a childrens' Treasure Island fun park, the main Sovereign Centre, Indoor Karting, a miniature railway and a golf centre. There is also a huge range of restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs to explore after you have finished with the beach. Eastbourne is rightfully one of the best beaches in the south of England.
