Gwithian beach with Godrevy Point at its western end, is one of the more remote beaches in Cornwall and it is conceivable that you might have the beach to yourself. It's certainly big enough that you wont be troubled for your own space; the beach is over 7 km long and runs south all the way down to Hayle Rivermouth. This produces a relaxed atmosphere in and out of the water and with the nature of the spilling beach break waves, creates the perfect environment for intermediate and beginner surfers wanting to grab as many waves as they can. The headland at the north end of the beach is Godrevy Point, which forces up the swell into a peak and produces some high quality waves that peel as right-handers into the beach.
It is just as well the waves and beach are so good as unless you are coming for the waves, the countryside or the seclusion there isn't much else to do at the beach. There is a good pub in the village, otherwise look towards Redruth, Camborne and St Ives for things to do away from the beach.
