Youghal beach has fantastic access and facilities, giving it an almost urban flavour by Irish standards, although would be considered beautiful, rural beach by comparison to some of the over the to resorts in England.
There is a main road running parallel to the beach above the seawall, which has large houses and hotels on its inland edge. There is excellent parking all along its length. The beach itself is thick, dark sand, broken up in some places by lines of wooden groynes. The beach runs away from the town to the west, flanked by sand dunes, it almost runs off to the horizon, curving round almost 90 degrees.
All board riders will love this beach, with its shifting breaks working best at low to id tide and providing huge amounts of space and variety for even large numbers of surfers to explore.
There are excellent all round facilities immediately behind the beach, ranging from toilets and lifeguards to a great bar and restaurant.
