Polkerris has two beaches; the small idyllic crescent below the village, which incorporates the traditional old harbour and has the feel of an old Smugglers Haunt to it - and the larger one a short walk over the headland to the west. There is thus plenty of space and many different peaks on the two beaches to explore and experience. The waves are generally easy going spilling waves and these combined with the safeness of the sand beach and the expanse of space to make it ideal for novices.

Polkerris is nestled at the back of St Austell's Bay and being sheltered will be one of the best beaches when storms are blowing the other south coast beaches out. The village has a great vibe for sitting back and relaxing in especially for a few waterside drinks after a day on the beach.

Beyond the beach and Polkerris there is nearby St Austell, which has plenty to explore and keep you entertained should the weather not be ideal. Polkerris is a great alround location and playground for board riders.
