Praa Sands is a stunning strip of white sand and turquoise water with waves of the highest quality making it a deservedly, hugely popular beach. Praa Sands produces powerful, plunging waves and picks up most swell coming in off the Atlantic so its rare to not have a surfable wave here, creating a perfect board riders playground for all levels of ability. At the right hand end of the beach is a large headland, which will sometimes produce a point break and protects the waves from strong westerly winds. At the southern end inexperienced surfers should watch out for rip tides on very big days.
The beach is served by excellent facilities including a café and sports equipment hire shop. There is also the Sandbar pub, which is worth checking out once you have finished on the beach.
