Newquay's Fistral beach hardly needs an introduction. The most famous surfing beach in Cornwall and England earns its reputation from its location in the centre of the biggest holiday resort town in the South West and undoubtedly because of the world-class barrels that it produces during large swells. The beach itself is a fantastic strip of golden sand, encompassed on three sides by low headlands with the UK's National surfing centre tucked at the back.
The surfing is best at either the southern end of the beach or up at the northern end where the sandbanks build in front of the rocky headlands. These sand banks produce waves of a quality that would challenge and entertain travelling professional surfers, so unless you are Laird Hmilton and are requiring 100ft tow in surfing, Fistral should be more than enough for you! Newquay produces quality surfing waves through all stages of the tide, year round.
The beach caters for all levels of surfing ability and there are a plethora of surf schools, manned by some of the high-class surfers that this world-class wave has spawned. On top of this is the incredible nightlife; Newquay has a multitude of bars and clubs to explore routinely packed with hundreds of local and visiting beach goers, so if you are after a 24-hour surfing experience look no further than the surfing Mecca of the UK!
