Crackington Haven is a great beach and one of those that will never get truly busy due to its location. It is a really long and narrow beach due to the fact that it nestles at the seaward end of a long valley. There are steep cliffs on both sides that mean it is very sheltered from the wind and can become a real suntrap in the summer and even on windier days. This shelter extends into the water and the beach can support consistent, clean waves on windy days and on the larger swells, some fearsomely large surf.
There is a great left hand point break on the rock slab, which runs straight out from the end of the valley, although novices should steer clear of this and stick to the beach break. This beach is matched only in quality by the local pub, The Combe Barton Inn that holds centre stage at the head of the valley. This is a fantastic, self-contained beach in a great, secluded location.
