The town of Falmouth is one of Cornwall and England's most popular travel destinations and its three main beaches (together with Falmouth harbour and its fantastic inns and pubs) are in part responsible for this. Falmouth's Swanpool Beach is the last one of the three main Falmouth town beaches, sitting past the headland on the right of Gyllyngvase Beach. The sand beach produces typical spilling beach break waves in big south-westerly swells or when there is an easterly storm system sat in the channel and is particularly suitable for novice and intermediate surfers. If you are lucky to be here on the right day, you could tackle Gyllyngvase reef - sitting off the headland at the left end of the beach.
It couldn't be more conveniently situated, directly in front of the town so if you have had a late night or are just having an early start, all you have to do is roll out of bed! If you want to keep the kids out of your hair while you surf, this is one of the best beaches in the south Cornwall for other things to keep them occupied, whilst after you have had your fill of the beach there are literally hundreds of things to do in town. So if you want to combine surfing with a stay in a great Cornish town, look no further than Falmouth.
