Holywell Bay

Holywell Bay is ideally located just south of Newquay, ensuring it is less busy than the main town beaches but only a short drive back in at the end of the day for the facilities and vibrant nightlife. It is a stunning, mid sized beach, made up of fine white sand and sits infront of a rolling expanse of low sand dunes. The water here is the colour and quality of that in the Caribbean and the beach produces some excellent spilling beach break waves, suitable for all levels of surfer. The best peak is in the middle of the beach, but when the swell is wrapping around into the bay you may find one of the two points on either side of the beach producing surfable waves. The sand is always shifting and so the peaks can vary through the year, as well as between low and high tide and with no real rip currents here it's a safe beach.

The beach's safety is enhanced by the presence of lifeguards during the main summer months. This, together with the sand dunes, make it a great venue if you have a family in tow and need to keep youngsters out of your hair whilst you tackle the waves. The village has a great pub set back from the beach by the car park for relaxing after a day at the beach.
