Nigg Bay

Nigg Bay is the big swell location for the Aberdeen area. It handles huge swells really well, and being a deep horse-shoe shaped bay, provides great lefts and rights off both points, with some epic, fast, barrelling waves when the conditions are right. When all the other beaches around here close out in large swell, Nigg keeps producing its high quality, walling waves and will give a thrilling challenge to even the most experienced surfers.

The bay is easy to access from a side road that runs down from the main A956, which itself runs straight behind the beach into Aberdeen city centre and there is free parking on the headland on the left side of the bay. Beyond surfing there is loads to do from the ubiquitous golf course just behind the beach to the thriving nightlife of Aberdeen, with its many leisure facilities and bars. This beach really comes into its own in the big winter swells.
