Finding a Bed and Breakfast on Surfing GeniePrices can vary with the season, rising significantly during the peak months of July and August, when availability is also likely to reduce. Some of the smaller establishments in more remote locations may also close during November to January due to numbers of visitors. The best option amongst B&Bs are the farm based B&Bs with incredible hospitality and huge, often very fresh breakfasts coupled with fantastic hospitality. Pubs will often offer B&B rooms above the main bar part of the building and will obviously be the most lively and social options. At the bottom end of the range of B&Bs you will get a bedroom in a privately owned house, a shared bathroom and a breakfast. This will most likely be a fried breakfast of cereal, toast, bacon, sausage, eggs, baked beans and juice, tea or coffee. Mid range B&Bs have en-suite bathrooms, a small television in each bedroom and a more varied and more continental style breakfast. All B&Bs should provide facilities for making tea, coffee and other hot drinks in the bedrooms.
As a general guide the lower end B&Bs in the listings directory will provide a double room for under £40 per night with mid to higher end B&Bs and guesthouses rising up to over £70 per night. There is a national award scheme that rates B&Bs by diamonds, with 1 being the lowest and 5 for the top end and this has now been standardised nationally so that the separate AA, RAC and main Tourist Board schemes are directly comparable.
