Robin Hood

Robin Hood's Bay is a large sweeping bay set below some rugged, low hills that descend down onto a sweeping pink sand beach. The village of Robin Hood's Bay is a fantastic old fishing village and has a superb winding high street at a steep angle, from where you will be able to see the surf in the Bay as you walk down to the beach. The surf here can be amongst the best on this stretch of coast, but it doesn't draw the crowds it deserves and thus remains a quiet spot. The peaks are on a series of rock reefs within the Bay, which work best on the lower half of the tide and off the point below the headland. The reefs can generate strong rips on the bigger days so novice surfers should take care that there are some experienced surfers in the water.

The village is easily accessed via the B1447 off the main A171, which runs straight into the village. The car parking is limited and you will need to walk the last 100m down the steep high street to the waters edge. The village has all the facilities the beach needs and if you want more than Robin Hood's Bay the stunning North Yorkshire Moors are just the other side of the A171.
