About Our Beaches.

The beaches of the UK & Ireland are wild, rugged places of stunning natural beauty, with scenery and nature that are crying out to be explored. Standing on a beach, watching a sun set, listening to the roar of the surf, feeling the spray off the waves with the cool wind in your hair, whilst sand swirls around your toes is a very relaxing and stress relieving experience. Our beaches can be places of tranquillity as your body readjusts back to the natural rhythm of the ebb and flow of the tide, places to reconnect with the natural environment.

The beaches of the UK & Ireland are incredibly varied. From the imposing Welsh granite of the cliffs along the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales, through the long sandy beaches backed by rolling sand dunes in Devon or the white chalk cliffs on the south coast of England, through to the cobbled beaches of Suffolk with low lying marshes immediately behind them, there is a beach for everyone and every possible interest along our coast. If you want a beach with nightlife behind it or just cows for company, there is one out there waiting to be explored.

More importantly our beaches can provide thrilling and exhilarating playgrounds, for surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing and many other adrenalin fuelled, hedonistic and social adventures, crammed with fun. Being by the sea intrinsically means being healthy, eating clean, locally produced food and improving your fitness and well-being. Most of all being on a beach is just fun.

About me.

Surfing has been in my family for three generations now; my Grandad rode a plywood body board that he shaped himself in a metal bath tub, my Dad and Uncle learned to surf on ‘Pigs’ in the sixties and seventies, when their sideburns were nearly as long as their boards. I was first thrown in the Ocean as a toddler and was stand up surfing by the time I was 10. I learned on the same original Gordon and Smith ‘Pig’ that my Uncle surfed and developed my surfing on a bright red thruster in the early 90’s, when wetsuits were the colour of highlighter pens. I have been surfing and travelling to beaches ever since. I hope you enjoy using Surfing Genie and find it useful to take the first step towards your next adventure. See you on the beach!

“20 years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you did do, than by the things you didn’t do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
