Tramore is the perfect Irish beach resort for surfers, windsurfers, kite surfers; in fact anyone who loves being by the sea. It is a small town that has the brash charm of a seaside resort whilst retaining the traditional atmosphere of an Irish village. The beach is nearly 4 kilometres of flat golden sand that has a large tidal range, exposing large amounts of it at low tide. The right hand, western edge, ends against a steep headland jutting out into the bay. The left hand, eastern end has a river mouth, which has deposited a huge amount of sediment that has built up into a long sand bar.
When the swell and wind are in the right direction this can produce incredible waves that break both into the river mouth and peel much longer into the beach, producing exciting, long rides for accomplished surfers.
Beyond the beach there is a wealth of things to do. The coastal scenery is stunning and speckled with points of interest and is well worth exploring. In town there is an arcade, a significant pleasure beach complete with Ferris wheel, a lake and a golf course to entertain you away from the beach.
