Wells-next-the-Sea is an absolutely stunning location. It is probably the most scenic and picturesque beach in East Anglia, combining a remote feeling with a very local and convenient location. The beach is framed by thick pinewoods, through which you approach the huge sands that extend from the river and sand islands to the east off around the dunes to the west. The beach literally stretches for miles and has a very unique series of low tide sand islands and a shallow river to explore, making it a child's paradise. Care should be taken as its one of the flattest beaches in the UK with potential for people to be cut off on the island by rapidly incoming tide - keep an eye on the time!

The beach has potential to produce good waves when a swell is running south down the North Sea, with low tide producing the best peaks. Unfortunately the beach doesn't allow kite surfing at present, but there is plenty of other beaches just down the coast if you are using Wells as a base. When the (rather foolish) ban on kite surfing gets lifted this beach will be a boarder's paradise.
